Players to Play for the Fans??

Well here we are middle of November and still no new CBA for the NHL. With 3 big issues holding up all the negotiations, its looking more and more like there will be no NHL season. With that being said there is some talk that the NHL players should have some sort of hockey tour for the fans. Having the players go to different cities and having NHL superstars put there own money to have a sort of all star game for the fans. How great would that be? I think if the players did that, they would help save the fan base for the sport. It would show that they really do care about the fans. Now i know this is easier said than done. Where would they play? Should they set up an outdoor rink somewhere and have a friendly all star like game? Should they try and go to a local rink and set up a game where they can play with fans? What do you guys think? At this point i think the NHL needs to do anything and everything they can to keep their fans. The fans are the most important part of hockey. Without fans what are these players playing for? I know money is important, but playing in front of millions of cheering fans is a lot better than playing in a half empty arena and just collecting a paycheck. Passionate fans help create unforgetable moments. So if you are a fan, what would you like to see the players do for you??

  1. I said the exact same thing. It would be nice to have the players come together on their own and not necessarily tour across the city but maybe play in a college arena somewhere or have the fans vote on a city it should be held in. This would be the best marketing strategy for the players themselves.. I say we take it to the NHLPA as an idea. It would show the support for the fans while this CBA negotiation is still underway and it would make the players look even better against Bettman and the owners. You know the media would cover the game and it could be shown on fox sports or something. You know damn well that every hockey fan in the world would tune into the game, TV ratings would be insane, and it would be a historical event in the making.
